Wealth Mutant uses two related surfaces — the Mutation Path and Future Self. They share the same characters but answer different questions.
Mutation Path is your map
The Mutation Path is a 9-level framework — the deliberate steps a financial life moves through. Tracking, emergency fund, debt purge, compound investing, legacy, financial independence. Each level is something you complete: it stays completed even if your situation changes later. The map shows the work you've already done.
Future Self is your compass
Future Self is a behavioral mirror. It reads your current net worth and your trajectory over the last year, and tells you where you're heading. It can regress: if you've been depleting savings, the compass shows that. It can accelerate: if your net worth is growing fast, the compass shows that too.
Same characters, different questions
The same six avatar identities — Mortal, Awakened, Ascendant, Sovereign, Regent, Monarch — appear on both surfaces. But the inputs differ. On the Mutation Path, your avatar reflects the levels you've completed. On Future Self, it reflects your current financial state and recent trajectory.
For some users they match. For others they diverge. A user who completed Level 8 (Fund the Future) three years ago might be Mutation Path Regent today — but if their net worth has shrunk since, their Future Self compass might point to Sovereign. Both readings are honest. Together they answer the question your financial life actually asks: where have I been, and where am I heading?
When they diverge
- High map, low compass: you've completed advanced levels but your recent trajectory has stalled or regressed. The compass is telling you to course-correct.
- Low map, high compass: you haven't completed many levels but your wealth is growing fast — maybe from a windfall, raise, or investment surge. The map will catch up.
Where to look
In the app: your map lives on the Mutation Path page, your compass on the Future Self page.
